Surviving the Apocalypse: Will Technology Help us Survive?
The San Antonio community has been infested with an infectious virus that has made
human beings into zombies that are looking to take over. The students in Writing 1013 at the
University of Texas at San Antonio have not formally contacted the infectious virus; therefore,
coming up with a plan to go to Clarence Town, Bahamas in order to get away from the infected
zombies. The students’ plan to get to the Bahamas is by getting on a bus to the Air Force Base,
once getting to the Air Force Base they will be getting on a helicopter and travel the secure
location. The reason why the Bahamas was chosen as the destination for the apocalypse was
because zombies cannot swim; therefore, it would be difficult for them to reach us. As a business
major, I will help serve my community to survival by using my proficiency in technology
management to keep track of inventory and installing security cameras to secure the island with
security.
As long as time has been around the theory of zombies may have started since the 8th
century. The word zombie is said to come from the term nzambie, which in Congo refers to the
spirt of a dead person, or zonbi in the Haitian Creole that represents a person who has died and
brought back to life without speech or free will (History of Zombies). In films zombies are
portrayed as monsters who want to take over the population or they are portrayed as people who
want to be loved. An example would be in the movie Warm Bodies where the zombie R saves

Julie from a zombie attack, and throughout the movie they start to develop feelings for one
another. In I Am Legend the film conveys how an engineered virus that is supposed to help cure
cancer, but instead the virus mutates and spreads which kills majority of the population, humans
and animal species can get infected by the virus, but wild animals such as deer and lions cannot
get the virus (Longenecker, Dwight).

In order to help out my community, I would have to use my business major technology
management to help secure the island and make the people feel safe. Technology management is
