History
World War 2 came to a halt in triumph of the America hence placing it as a superpower.
The confidence and prestige it gained after this war made it have an interest around the world
with an aim of opening up a global market. In the meantime, it was focused on ensuring that
interests that were against its policy of capitalism especially from Russia and China were
contained as they posed a threat to their policy of capitalism (Buzzanco 16). It had interests in
Europe because it aimed at rebuilding Germany, France, Italy and other nations that were
devastated by the world war two. Its main objective was to restore them along their policy of
capitalism. By doing this, it was confident that it would prevent the Soviet Union from spreading
its policy of communism beyond Asia, Eastern Europe, and Japan.
America and Russia alleged themselves as prominent because of their great contribution
in the Second World War and thus they wanted to show the rest of the world that they were the

United States did not want to stop giving assistance to French, as this would allow the allies who
upheld the policy of communism to take control. They also feared that if they left Vietnam to be
controlled by the Chinese, then this would prevent the United States economic development in
Asia. To ensure that they reconcile these challenges, they increased their aid in great proportions
and offered military equipment and advisors. As this event continued, Vietnam was divided into
north and south in order to prevent its reunification following an election.
In the year, 1955 United States was unhappy with the administration instilled in South
Vietnam. The existing political ruler was a pro-American communist administrator- Diem. He
was the first ruler of South Vietnam and saw Vietnam get declared as the Republic of Vietnam.
United States then shifted all its attention to the South Vietnam Republic and due to the
