World War One: Pre-war Europe/ Germany
• Victorian era gives the way to the Edwardian era. 19th century. King
Edward 7 takes over after him.
• Paris Exposition 1900- a world fair held in Paris. Celebrated European
accomplishments. Progress, peace, prosperity.
• Why the optimistic view? 1870-1900 they have better food, hygiene,
medicine= longer lives, more people. 100-400 mill, increased education
(free k-8 education) , belief in rationality, logic, Europe economically
connected (they agreed that war was not going to happen because it
would cost them both to much money).
• 1900-1914 Tech Henry Ford did not create automobile. Man flight was
