I believe that in this current time, there could have been better use of the $40 billion. There is
currently a shortage of baby formula, which is a necessity for mother’s with babies. According to
https://www.npr.org/2022/05/19/1099748064/baby-infant-formula-shortages, “the U.S. buys
almost no infant formula from other countries. There are steep, 17.5% tariffs on most formula
that is brought in. And regulatory barriers make it almost impossible for formula makers outside
the country to sell to the customers in the United States.” This makes obtaining formula very
hard for mothers all over America. Overall I think that congress should have put the tax payer
money into the crisis on hand, and not send it all over to Ukraine.
