The Oshkosh Police Department announced Tuesday (use only in direct quotes and in phrases that do

the cyanide spill that sparked a major public health scare last week.
Residents were warned to stay indoors and urged not to use city water after a chemical cocktail was
spilled at the AxleTech International plant, between High Avenue (Abbreviate only with a numbered

Lab tests confirmed there were small amounts of cyanide in the solution. But other chemicals present
would have eliminated any threat to the public, an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA is acceptable

AxleTech Chief Executive Officer (confine capitalization to formal titles used directly before an individual’s
name) Bob Gryzenia said he suspected sabotage. “We have procedures in place to ensure the safe
handling of materials, and I do not believe this was an accident.”
