Word-of-mouth communication
Whenever I think about word-of-mouth communication, political campaigns pop-up in my
mind. It is the same as companies trying to promote their products to people, but instead of
the product they promote themselves. I had a great chance to be involved at a political
campaign of Pete Buttigieg, former candidate to the president’s of the USA. His last name is
hard to pronounce, so he came up with posters that help you pronounce it. It said “BOOT
EDGE EDGE”, the combination of these three words sound just like his last name. I would
not say that only this made him popular, but it had a great impact for recognizing him among
other candidates. I also want to mention that they offered food (which is why I went to the
campaign ha-ha).
Most of the shops/services promote themselves through social media. One time I got my
lashes done at a salon, they asked me to publish a story and tag their instagram account.
This way, other people could see the results of their service, check their account and maybe
decide to use their services.
Another word-of-mouth communication I got to experience is black fridays. There is always a
huge buzz over these sales days. When I was in the USA, retail stores such as Target,
Walmart had super sales on black Friday. There are usually a lot of people that stand in
huge queues from the early morning. I did not quite enjoy this experience, иecause the
accumulation of large people restricts the ability to move freely, creates a crush and it can be
traumaticю
