Society has built this idea of beauty that I feel many us simply accepted as the only idea.
Reading this chapter and the readings in the chapter made me ask myself various amount of
times: who thought these ideas up? Why do feel the need to agree with these norms? Who are we
trying to please? As someone who still at times feels that I do not fall within the standards or
within the lines of what society considers beautiful looking at it in the view of these authors was
very inspiring.
Body image is always the center of things I feel, I go on social media like Instagram and
usually about ten minutes in I start thinking about how I don’t look like all the pretty thin girls. I
also think about how tough people are on celebrities and how it is always expected that they look
