There is a fact that number of people who watch women’s sports is less than men’s. One of
the main reasons is “society has a negative stereotype of female athletes.” Public believe
that women are weaker and less talent then men so their sports are less interesting to
watching. In my opinion, it is not fair to compare between male and female athletes; and
the interesting aspect in sports is also not depend totally on talent.
First of all, we cannot deny that women is physically weaker than men. According to the
National Strength and Conditioning Association, men have higher levels of testosterone,
resulting in broader frames and increased muscle mass. While women experience higher
levels of estrogen, which results in more body fat, less muscle and bone mass, and lighter
total weight than men. Thus, women have less strength and muscle mass than men. Men
also have more physiological advantages than women in sports because their hearts, lungs
and legs are often larger .
However, I do not agree with people who think that women are less talented; and from that
the sports which women compete are boring to watch just because they are weaker than
man. Comparison is about two “equal” subjects but women and men have the big natural
physical differences. Women may be weaker but more endurable and flexible than men
because of hormonal and anatomical differences (according to the article “Gender and
Endurance Performance,” in Northwest Runner magazine and the report “An Invitation to
