The goal of most states in the United States is to have fewer people in jail and prison for
drug and alcohol addiction. And that is especially true when it comes to women. In every society
there are those that are not in line with the norm and those who are not are put in jail or prison.
When we think of prison most of us think of men and not women. However, that is not the case
and more women are being put in prison now. However, one state surpasses all other states and
that is Oklahoma. See “Oklahoma sends more women to prison than any other state on a per
capita basis and has for 14 of the past 15 years”[ CITATION Cla11 \l 1033 ]. When it comes to
non-violent crimes and drug offense something the only options in some states is prison and jail.
