Women and Minorities in the Workplace
Most of us have heard the term “gender gap” being used quite frequently in
recent years to describe the discrepancy in status, opportunities, and pay between men
and women. Not only does this occur for women but also for minorities. There is the
expectation that a company needs to be diverse, however with recent statistics, white
men are still dominating positions such as corporate executives and board members.
Women and minorities who are in the position to promote others tend to be penalized if
they try to promote individuals from their own group, while white men receive no
criticism.
