Wisdom and Chocolate is an event held by Thurston County. It is a chance for us to hear
firsthand from entrepreneurs who have built profitable businesses that resonate with who
they are. Today, at Saint Martin’s University, Zev Siegl will give his speech to share what
he have learned from growing an enterprise. Zev Seigl is co-founder of Starbucks Coffee
Company, an international speaker and business coach. Zev Siegl is also a founder of
Quatermaine Coffee Roasters in Washington DC, Peerless Pie in Seattle and, more
recently, Buckle Up which is now renamed Socialbeesstrategy.com.
Zev Seigl’s speech began and closed with the same video of athletics’ runners. But it gave
us different views when we first watched and then later when we had listened to him.
During his presentation, which is called “Right from the start”, he pointed out ten right
things that one business should follow to achieve success. The first one is the right type of
business, which shows you how to choose and decide what categories of business you
should form. The second one is the right competition which helps you determine your
direct and indirect competitors. The third and the fourth are government regulation and the
right amount of money. The fifth one is the one I was really interested in – the right
