Why some countries are poorer than others.
There are three widely recognized hypothesizes of world’s inequality – geographical
location, culture and politicals1. The reason why West has modernized before the rest of the
world is due to its geographical location; cultural and spiritual assets; as well as strong
political leadership.
The first hypothesis states that difference in geographical locations across the world is
one of the main reasons for great division between rich and poor countries. The West
countries benefit from good weather conditions, fertile grounds and natural resources
available which is not the case for South or East. Based on the statistics, the average
temperature in 2009 in Central Africa and Arabic countries was 27oC,2 which proves to create
difficulties in maintaining good living conditions for the population. As such, southern and
eastern countries tend to frequently suffer from the heat and rare rainfalls, therefore there is
reluctancy to work across the nations, as well as a high level of laziness amongst people. The
