What is Leadership to Me and To What Extent is it Important? Rachel Gates
Leadership, in my opinion, is a give and take of roles expressed by individuals.
Depending on the circumstance, a good leader will know if their role in a situation and whether
or not it requires them to be passive or aggressive. Additionally, I think an effective leader
would have the ability to adapt and change their role. Leaders should show consistent behavior
in regards to their character; whether at home, at work, or out in public. Leaders should be
known for having positive traits that individuals associate with having a quality character
attributes. Some of the traits an effective leader should include: showing respect, being
responsible, accountability, being trustworthy, flexible, and having the ability to motivate
others. A leader is also a role given by either delegation or nomination to individuals, to be the
representative for groups of people. I do not feel that being a leader is dependent upon a
