Why have libraries become less popular?
Great source of knowledge. A library is a palace where sources of information and books are
stored. We can easily get access to them for various purposes. But the importance of the
traditional sources of information is declining every day. One source among these is the library.
The decline in popularity of libraries is due to the advancement of technology busy schedule of
optional people and the limited time availability of resources.
The most important reason is the advancement in technology with the help of technology. People
can search for whatever they want. For instance, the internet is the prime reason for replacing the
library with online education. They can search for books that are even not available in libraries.
Some books and research papers are limited for specific persons and limited editions are
available in libraries but due to the internet people can access those resources easily. They can
access every edition of the book they want so they are paying lesser attention to the libraries.
Another reason behind the extinction of libraries is the busy schedule of people due to a busy
life. They have lesser time to go to the library to read books. Due to the limitation of the time
they only read books on the internet. They can read the e-books on their phones tablets or laptops
wherever they want to read. They are not feeling the need to go to the library which is becoming
the reason for the extinction of the library.
Last but not the least, the reason for the lesser popularity of libraries is due to their limited time
of availability of resources. We can issue books from libraries only for a limited number of days
and after that, we have to return to the library. Which people feel a disappointing thing because
sometimes we need those resources for longer period of time to do our work, so they prefer to
download books and keep them for as long as they want without the tension of returning then
which is making library less popular.
