The Family Readiness Group (FRG) is an officially command-sponsored organization of
Family members, volunteers, and Soldiers belonging to a unit, that together provide an avenue of
mutual support and assistance, and a network of communications among the Family members,
the chain of command, and community resources (Source). There are many different types of
FRG’s the Army, Navy and Marine Corp. In the Air Force, it’s known as the Key Spouse
program; and the Coast Guard has the Work-Life Program. FRG’s can be a great thing for the
not only the families, but for the soldiers as well. Sometimes though different personalities’ can
get in the way, status (spouse rank), motivation, stress, leadership, and it there is proper training.
There are five key factors to have a successful FRG which are leadership, organization, training,
fun activities, and communication.
