Who killed Kayla?
Who killed Kayla? Was it the six year old boy or society? Was it the negligence of the
school, family and its community? All these factors are culpable of the death of Kayla
Rolland, but the factor that stands out the most in my opinion is the negligence of the
school. School is the place where one as a kid spends most of its time, it is like a second
home. It is supposed to create a safe environment to promote education. If a school is not
capable of doing this, then it is not following its prior obligation.
All these factors contribute to this horrible outcome, but I think that it could have been
prevented if the school would have taken the necessary precautions for the welfare of the
six year old boy. I think that the school was very irresponsible and did a poor job looking
out for the six year old boy. In the Time’s passage it mentions that the boy was known to
have started fights and would say the “F word”, flipping people off, pinching and hitting
other kids. He had stabbed a girl with a pencil, some weeks before the killing of Kayla.
The boy attacked Kayla in various occasions and tried to kiss her.
This behavior is by far uncommon and suspicious in a six year old boy. If I were a teacher
in that school and would have seen the boy do those things I would have taken immediate
