Working in Retail
Who here has worked in retail?
Working in retail can be a very stressful job. One has to manage dealing with many customers
and working long hours at times, especially when it comes to any holiday season.
When you work in retail one of the main requirements is customer service. Even though many
people hate it, it is a very important detail to high sales, which is why most of all employers
require it. However, giving great customer service is not always easy. Many customers get very
annoying and end up stressing you. Some of them just drive you insane wanting you to simply
guess what they want when they do not even now themselves.
When you work the closing shift there might be times when you end up leaving work hours later
after you intended. Why? Well because after you close a store you have to organize it and make
it look nice for the following morning. Customers leave the store looking so trashy and messy. It
takes time to get everything ready. For example, I used to work at Tommy Hilfiger in Dolphin
Mall and we closed at 9:30 PM which is at the time that most the of the stores close and we
sometimes ended up leaving 12:30 AM-1:00 AM just organizing the store and that is just a
regular quick clean up. When we had to do perfect organization or perfect folding how they
called it employees left up to 8:00AM-9:00AM at times to go back to work a few hours later.
Most of these employees got there around 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM but some worked their regular
