Why are Baby Boomers such a lucrative market?
Baby Boomers are such a lucrative market, because there are so many people that fall in
the “baby boomer” category, and that numbers seems like it is only going to grow in the
years to come. In the years following World War 2, people started to have much more
children and now those children make up the baby boomer generation. In 2010 it was
estimated that the United State had approximately 40 million senior citizens (over 65), and
by 2030 there will be almost 75 million. And as these baby boomers begin to enter their
retirement years, marketers know they are a very good market for two reasons; 1.) there
are so many of them that make up this group, and 2.) overall, this group has a lot of money.
These two reasons make baby boomers a very lucrative market that many companies are
trying to target for products.
