Group Cohesion
1. Define the importance of group cohesion. How did the leader develop
and maintain group cohesion? Give examples
. Group cohesion is not caused by one single factor, but the
interaction of more than one factor. Group cohesion may have an effect on
group performance, group performance may create or increase group cohesion.
Members of a highly cohesive groups may be motivated to accomplish more,
which may not necessarily align with the member’s interest in performance.
Group cohesion can actually have a negative effect on group task performance.
Group cohesion allows group members to work together more easily and feel
more positively about their work. Cohesion is impacted by several factors, such
as trust and member similarity.
