What is a good parent? Till this day, everyone has their own way of defining that question.
Many of us discipline our kids when do something wrong. It is not why we discipline them
that are different; but it is how we discipline them. Some of us parents would yell and
scream; while others are much calmer. Nowadays, there’s a very fine line between
discipline and abusing. We as parents have to be very cautious in disciplining our kids.
Since I grew up, both of my parents worked a lot. My grandmother raised both of my two
siblings and I. I remember when I was little; we didn’t have big birthday parties like all the
other kids. All we had for our birthdays was a medium size cake, family size box of fried
chicken and a liter of soda. Not only that, we only celebrated with the family. Since we
grew up seeing what our parents went through; we were very appreciative of what we have
and given. I really didn’t understand it at the time. Now that I am much older and seeing
how other kids are, both of my parents and grandmother did love us very much. Their way
of showing love to us is by being there for us, spending time with us, and by not spoiling
us with money or materialistic things.
What I have seen happen to other kids or even to my friends, when we were younger, is
that their parents were yelling and screaming at them all the time. I didn’t understand why
