Everyone has his or her own thoughts about metaphysics. Metaphysics is commonly
known as a branch of philosophy that describes the principles of things such as identity,
time, space and substance. Aristotle believed in a materialistic version of metaphysics.
Plato believed in a idealistic version of metaphysics. When someone believes in both it is
dualism. Personally I believe that there is a God and that he does have a designed plan for
us, but only for those who choose to believe in Him and this path that He has planned for
them. I think that we are motivated in what we believe in whether it is God, or material
goals and standards that we set for ourselves. No matter what we are goal oriented and
focused on achieving certain things in life. Some people think of this goal as materialistic
and some would say idealistic goals such as fulfilling God’s plan. I believe in God’s plan,
but I also have materialistic goals that I set for myself. In this case I would be considered a
dualist and believe in dualism. I believe that dualism is the best of both worlds when
talking about belief systems. I do believe there is such thing as a God and I do believe that
everything has a purpose and functions with goals of material things. I believe that there is
a reality, which we know and see which is the world we are present in and I believe that
