What does love mean to you? Love has a different meaning for each
individual. The concept of love for each individual can vary depending on what they
believe love is. Love has been in our vocabulary for hundreds of years. It is a feeling
that almost every individual craves from family, friends, significant other, etc. We
seek for attention and company of that one person. I have learned that due to the
experience you have came across the concept of whether you believe in love
changes. The web dictionary defines love as “ A profoundly tender, passionate
affection for another person, a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep
affection as for a parent, child or friend” (Web Dictionary).
According to a psychology study of love it takes “one-fifth of a second to fall
in love”(Christine Hsu). When you are in love with someone or something there is a
chemical that is released called euphoria inducing. Euphoria inducing is a state and
a form of pleasure which an individual experiences intense feelings of happiness
and excitement. The brain releases the same chemicals receiving the same type of
hit as if it was that you did cocaine. Love is a word that we come across daily. We are
born into a family that shows us how to love, so that in the long run we can
reciprocate the same love to our own family, friends or child.
In my study I focus on four questions: Do you believe in love? Why or why
not? What love means to you? Do you believe in love at first sight? And have you
ever been in love? If yes how did you know? I choose this topic I wanted to see the
different types of answers I would get from different individuals.
The first person I interviewed was a Caucasian female, age 27 who asked me
to identify him as Krystal. Krystal is a young woman who grew up with both parents.
