Hailing from a services background, much of my success and long-term client relationships materialized
due to my adherence to earnestness and uprightness. Integrity is being ethical and truthful in all our deeds.
At a more conscious level, it is what you stand for in life. When mind is sincere, actions are honest.
During University I handled two contradicting expectations together; internship in a major software
company and a project for the University but I managed them extremely well with my sincerity and
truthfulness. Further, I represented the university at the all India university swimming competitions. I
disclosed that I had been out of professional swimming for over 6 years and despite not being in the best
physical shape I trained hard for over three months and got selected in the team.
Further, I have faced quite a few tests of integrity in my career. While working as software engineer at
Nucleus, I honed my skills to become a specialist in Finnone (Loan management MIS solution) and
helped several banks implement it across 8 countries. With my expertise I led sales team, to win many
multi-million orders for the company. AMCON (Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria) was one of

offered them during the course of the project. After the end of the project AMCON invited me to work
with them to improve their technological infrastructure and to design quality processes and policies
centered on technology. I accepted the offer and joined AMCON with an ambition to transform its
technological infrastructure and with a will to learn the core asset management function and business.
However, some of my colleagues began insisting me to tweak and develop some solutions in Finnone (the
MIS) by writing code to suit some business requirements. I politely declined explaining that Finnone was
an intellectual property of Nucleus software and that I did not have the authority to change any coding
and, any up gradation should be formally conveyed to the vendors (Nucleus software). To my surprise
even few senior staff members to save cost of up gradation started vehemently demanding me to adhere to
their request, and threatened to terminate my contract if I didn’t. I ignored the threats but the harassment
wouldn’t end. I reported the matter to the head of the IT, and to my relief he intervened and directed to
covey any request of up gradation formally.
Even at Purdue students should maintain their truthfulness and integrity by keeping the competition
among peers and teams healthy and should not get overwhelmed by vision of success. Purdue in its
curriculum for all courses should introduce business ethics as a subject. There should be workshops and
