What can we learn from Fayol who lived in the early 1900’s?:
Henri Fayol was a managing director and had a different approach on changing a company than
others did. He acted more of a manager and changed the company from the top down. Fayol
was a managing director for a company called Compagnie de Commentary-Fourchambault et
Decazeville, a steel company that owned coal and ore mines. The company employed upwards
of 13,000 people. Before Fayol was employed as the CEO, the company was on the decline and
was on the verge of being shut down. Produc1on had dropped over 60 percent. Fayol’s initial
assignment was to liquidate and shut down the company but he miraculously turned it around
