What A Trip
I’m going to tell you about my vacation that happened during the whole month of August
2009. I have a brother named Nate and a twin brother named Ben. Ben and I were eleven years
old and Nate was twelve. At the time we had a forty foot RV that was white and a slate-ish tan
color. The RV had a tan symbol on the side of it that looked like the Nike symbol on the
sneakers. We had attached our personal car to the RV (white Ford Taurus X) that we drove all
the way from Massachusetts to South Dakota. My dad had a surprise that only he and my mom
knew. I’ll tell you what that surprise was later on.
We were all packed up and ready to leave, so that we could start our journey. When I first
stepped in the RV I was bouncing off the walls in excitement. The drive took us about two days
and it sucked. There was a lot of traffic and at one point we were in traffic for two hours before
we drove the normal highway speed.
I kept saying to my dad, “Run over these cars to skip traffic”.
He laughed and said, “Go take a nap it will go by faster if you sleep”.
I layed on the softest and squishiest couch I ever laid on, but still couldn’t take a nap
because I was so anxious to go to South Dakota. I am a very patriotic person and I wanted to see
the National Parks. They fascinated me. Visiting Mount Rushmore was my dream. After a while
thinking about the trip I finally took an hour and half nap. My dad woke me up because he saw
black smoke in the blue sky. this scared me because I had no idea what it was.
Nate asked, “Is something on fire?”, but nobody knew.
