“Welfare, No Free Rides”
Imagine waking up every morning around 5 am to get ready for work and proceed on
with your day working eight hours, then going home to cook, eat, and get ready for bed. Now
this may sound pretty typical and normal for the average human being. There are a fairly large
group of Americans, approximately 15,000,000 people, which this doesn’t apply to, welfare
recipients (“Statistic Brain”). I’m not here to bash and belittle the citizens of the U.S. that are
down on their luck and just needing a little hand to get back on their feet. I’m here to talk about
the people that have abused the system for potentially years and doing essentially nothing to help
them get off the welfare system. A fair welfare system should entail the recipient showing proof
of progression to get off the system. Also with every recipient that receives welfare, there should
be a plan along with dates and deadlines of when the objective needs to be accomplished. The
welfare program is a short-term lending hand, and not a long term source of income and free
