A weekend getaway at the Washington coast
A Cold breeze with a light drizzle of rain touched my face as I
wiggled my toes in the sand for the first time since I lived in san
diego 5 years ago. No doubt that this beach wasn’t considered
home to me like the sunny California beaches, But the serene
feeling of being on the coast just warmed my heart in a welcoming
way. My 4 year old daughter, Sallie wizzes past me with a
unforgettable laughter as my German Shepherd, Harley runs
violently with happiness and I couldn’t just help it but think to myself
of how I might have left my rain jacket at home. My Nose became
cold enough to trick me that it was runny. Sallie trips over her own
feet and throws a fit that the sand is now on her hands. Harley pays
no attention…literally. Harley runs and jumps on oncoming beach
goers while the poor older woman cries “NO!, DOWN!”. My mind is
flustered and then sallie cries out that she’s hungry for burritos.
Gathering my two loved ones up by my side, we make our way to
the most adorable, dog friendly hotel that was reserved for the night.
In the lobby, there is offered local organic tea and dog treats. The
furniture and architectural design was modern but with are hip flare.
Later in the evening, both kids are asleep and Im sitting by the
window enjoying my hot tea and ocean view, thinking of how big of a
smile my daughter had on her face earlier.
My thesis and judgment:
