In Judges 19:22-30 in beginning the wicked men in a city surrounding a house requested
the old man bring forth the man that was a guest in his house, so they could rape him. The man
offered forth his concubine and his daughter that was a virgin, but the men only wanted the man
that was a guest in his house. Although, instead the old man still brought forth his concubine and
gave her to the men outside to rape her. So, the men raped and abuse the concubine all night and
after being raped and abused all night she returned. In the morning the old man woke up and she
laid at the front door and he told her to get up, so they could go but she was dead. The old man
picked her up and took her back home and cut her up into twelve pieces and spread her body
throughout Israel.
In this passage I can view it as being more than one victim; first from the concubine she
was placed in a situation where she was raped, abused, and murdered, and secondly the old man
he was threatening to give up his guest he was responsible for protecting and offered his concubine
and daughter to save them. The victim we could relate to as being involved in part of the
victimization is the old man who had to choose between his guest and his family. The man
concubine was murder in a vicious way and he took her body and cut her into to pieces and spread
her throughout Israel. Although, I find it difficult to determine was his actions out of anger; was
he so angry at what they had done he cut her up and sent her out to send a message about what
they had done. Then, could it be fear and anxiety that someone may found out what he had done
and bring shame upon him or blame him for her death caused by the wicked men he gave her to.
