Social psychology is the scientific study of how individuals think, feel, and be-
have in a social context (Kassin, Fein, & Markus, 2017). It is on of many disciplines in
psychology, focusing primarily on our social nature. Birthed in the early 20th century as a field
of study, its pioneers while debatable are Triplett and Ringlemann. There now exists subfields of
the discipline which include: behavioral genetics, evolutionary psychology, behavioral
economics, and social neuroscience. Researchers in social psychology utilize several methods of
measurement in their studies some of which are self-reports, observations, and technology. We
will review in this paper ethics in research, interdependence, and obedience.
