In today’s music scene, millions of talented and not-so-talented artists are putting music
out
in every different way. Whether it is the traditional CD passing in public or social media
advertising for their soundclouds, they are making an effort to get their name out there.
Getting
to the successful point is the difficult part. As many talented artists construct their projects,
only
a very small amount is lucky, talented and strategic enough to make it. In the music
industry
today, talent alone will simply not be enough.
During my search for a group that was undiscovered by the masses, I sifted through many
interesting people. I managed to land on “BBK” short for “Boy Better Know” a grime
label from
U.K. Grime is England’s main form of rap that is not as deep as traditional conscious rap
and
consists of hard hitting beats and catchy flow. The Boy Better Know label consists of many
different talents such as Shorty, JME, Wiley, Frisco and the evident leader Skepta. Skepta
seems
to have the tracks that are really leaking potential of becoming hits, even for Americans.
His
music was the one that stood out for me and it was for a combination of reasons. His flow
was
very good and his British voice was definitely refreshing after only listening to American
rap.
The beats on his tracks were very different, yet similar. Skepta, like many great artists, is
able to
have his own sound and style while still being similar to the rest of the great successful
guys.
