Introduction
Wealth and poverty has existed since the dawn of time. In any society there
will always be an inferior and a superior, the have and the have-nots. How each
society handles these class divisions defines what type of society they are. Today,
the problem with the rich and poor is that the rich becomes richer and the poor
becomes poorer, this can be seen in many countries but specifically, the United
States. According to a study by the US Census Bureau, the United States had a
poverty rate of about 15% which is approximately 46.5 million people in 2012
(Hokayem, 2014). This statistic can be contrasted to the poverty rate study in 2001
