We Lived Happily During the War
The poem “We Lived Happily During the War” By Ilya Kaminsky is a beautifully written
piece that describes war through his perspective. The First four lines of the poem Kaminsky talks
about what happened in the beginning of the war. The homes were bombed and people protested
the war. No one wanted this war, but no one did enough. “We protested, but not enough.” The
poem also says “Around my bed America was falling” which indicates that as American’s lay in
