HIST 100: Art and the People who Made It
PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY: First, to think about small-scale art—as opposed to large-scale
architecture—as a means of investigating past societies. Second, to continue the process of
developing the skills for historical research by deriving information from primary sources. Third,
to make more direct connections between what is learned in class activities and what is learned
from the textbook. Fourth, to further the goal of empathy for the past.
SKILLS NEEDED FOR THIS ACTIVITY: Ability to navigate through a website to find appropriate
images. Ability to connect images to information from the textbook and to your own life.
