A Summary of “Vivekananda”
In the article “Vivekananda”, Sen explains the upbringing and social/spiritual change
India endured through the spiritual work Swami Vivekananda. It is stated in the article that there
are several ways that Vivekananda’s life and work has made a respectable impact on India’s
culture through the practices of spiritualization. His contributions to India can be summarized
into four ways; our everyday lives would become more meaningful only when spiritualized,
empowerment of the people, publicly displaying humanitarianism, and his desire to bring back
India’s pride of place in commonness and unity. With Vivekananda’s first contribution, he
emphasized that our everyday lives would become more meaningful only when spiritualized.
This led to Vivekananda self-realizing spirituality that later led more people into realizing their
own spiritual self-realization and potentialities. During his second contribution, his vital message
was the empowerment of the people which was through realizing unity, education, and collective
mind than the body.
