As an artist myself, I took this class to get more of understanding about art throughout
time. There have always been pieces that have stuck with me, but the one that stands out the
most to me is The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli painted in Florence, Italy in the year 1482.
Prior to this class I was familiar with the work, my girlfriend loves it and even has a tattoo of the
face of Venus on her ankle, as well as several different renditions of the paintings all over our
house, and even Birth Of Venus coasters for our drinks. For the duration of our relationship this
painting has been before me, yet I never thought to investigate in any more detail than to just
glance at it every now and again. On the second day of History of Art class, this artwork came on
the slideshow and I was very excited – I wanted to see why my girlfriend loved it so much, and I
