The Value of Fair Treatment in the Workplace
It’s currently 2025 and the Supreme Court has declared all laws prohibiting
discrimination in the workplace to be unconstitutional. This means that every law regarding
discrimination in the work place no longer exists. Discrimination is defined as making a
difference in treatment or favor on a basis other than individual merit (www.merriam-
webster.com, 2017). Individuals in the workplace can be discriminated upon based on age, sex,
race, disability, marital status, etc. A few laws relating to discrimination consist of the Title VII
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, the Equal Pay Act of 1963,
and the Age Discrimination Act in Employment Act of 1967. A lot of these laws were put into
practice decades ago to help prevent employers from making any unjust or prejudicial decisions
regarding the individuals that they choose to employ at the workplace.
