“Doing gender” on Valentine’s Day would simply mean putting in extra effort or money
towards the person you consider your partner. Since people “do gender” everyday, the only
thing that would separate that action on Valentine’s Day would be all the festivities
planned for one another. Valentine’s day is huge in the sense that many loved ones expect
flowers, dinners, balloons, and tons of love from their respective partner. Stereotypes for
what a man should do on this certain day are drawn up and expected for years to come.
Many women expect to be buttered up on this day, which they should be, but it shouldn’t
be like this only one day out of the year. Being a man, at the end of Valentine’s Day I
would want to have a little fun with my woman. I feel like women kind of think that sex is
expected from them at the end of this long day where the man planned everything. Sex is
different in every single relationship, whereas some people could show their love in
different ways. Women are always asking each other what they did on Valentine’s Day, so
in order for men to be held accountable, they have to really try to one up the other. The
