Untraditional Women in Society
As society goes on the roles of its members change. In the 1800s, the role of women was
to be a housewife and take care of the children. They were to do all the chores in the home and
raise the girls up to be good housewives and mothers. During the 1800s men were seen as
superior to women by society. The wives became the property of the husband and they were to
follow his orders and take care of his house and children. In two works written in the 1800s,
