Unit Five – Integrated Essay
Covey (2013) defines habits as “the intersection of knowledge, skill, and desire.” He goes
on to say, “Knowledge is the theoretical paradigm, the what to do and the why. Skill is the how
to do. And desire is the motivation, the want to do.” Habits are referred to as settled or regular
tendency or practice and can be used in a negative way. For example; one can pick up the bad
habit of smoking or drinking. However, through our reading and internalizing the material
provided to us, we can also see that there are habits that are positive which we can apply to our
personal, as well as professional, lives. I am going to discuss these positive habits from Covey’s
“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” as well as integrate scripture into each of these habits.
