“How has labor union benefited your family?”
A nice place to work is great start for something great. Many people coming from
different parts of the world try to get a job to support themselves and their family. Some jobs
may fit certain people but it takes responsibility to stay with a job and provide what they are
capable of. Working together in the union offers great benefits to keep family and their members
together. Members always try to give their best at work especially when they get benefits from
the job. Everyday members who work for the union try to get to work to make a living for
themselves. Many of them work very hard to get things done at the job. People work towards the
goal to make money to buy groceries, clothes and even help their family. Every job a lot of
people want to join the union because it offers a lot of great benefits that they want to get
involve. Some jobs do not offer union and employees they have no choice other than keep
working and moving forward. Working for the union can make people dreams come true because
it offers great working conditions and protect them from getting people fire or lay off. Moreover,
it offers great better pay because every few months, people keep getting raise to make more
money and take more money into their pockets to buy anything they need. In that way they can
stay longer working for the company that is part of the union who is looking forward to help
them every step of the way.

One of the benefits the union offers is better working condition. According to Martin M.
Perline a professor of Economics from Wichita State University, et al. stated, “The work
environment, therefore, enhances the degree of participation of a group” (432). Union members
working together motivate other members to work together and participate more in work
activities, in that way members put more energy into the job that is being done and keep working
hard until their shift have ended. Since the environment is safe to work a lot of union members
feel welcome to keep working hard. In a similar way Carlos Garcia Serrano a professor of
Economics in University of Alcala stated, “Hence is it important to include measures for
working conditions and job attributes capturing union members control in the workplace.”(93).
