In Mitch Albom’s, Tuesdays with Morrie, he tells about his visits Morrie Schwartz
during his last fourteen Tuesdays of life where he learns the great lessons of life through their
‘final thesis.’ Morrie, Mitch’s former sociology professor, sees life through a different lens than
most other people, he dances even when there is no music, sees dependency as something to
embrace, and looks death right in the face ready to take on the new journey. Through Morrie’s
values and teaching from experience, he shares his wisdom to a long yearned for answer to the
question, what is the meaning of life?
From a symbolic interactionist perspective, it is said that society is the product of
everyday life experiences. Through Morrie and Mitch’s discussions on the tough topics in life
such as death, fear, and aging, Morrie was able to relate his own life experiences to Mitch in
