Theme: Trust & inclusivity
Trust and inclusivity are human concepts. We seek these in everything we do from
meeting people to driving to work to making life decisions. It is the foundation on which
any relationship is built, including the relationship between human beings and
technology. This premise brings us to a set of thought-provoking questions—how much
do we trust this technology that helps us finish a task on daily basis? Does it
unknowingly exclude any individuals? How can we design experiences to make digital
products more inclusive and trustworthy? How will design interventions enhance trust in
a user’s journey?
At Microsoft, our mission is to empower every person and every organization on the
planet to achieve more. Diversity and inclusion are inherent to this mission. When our
organization is diverse and inclusive, we can provide technology solutions that serve the
full range of humanity. Achieving our mission also depends on building trust with
people and organizations around the globeour goals are only possible when people
trust Microsoft and our technology.

should show us how you have uncovered not only the user’s context but also their
needs, aspirations, and motivations. Your problem area should be big enough to be
impactful. Your solution should be able to address all the aspects mentioned above.
The solution may be nearterm and practical, or long term and blue sky. But the final
idea must be innovative, technically feasible, and have a realistic chance of adoption if
implemented. Your solution cannot be just a description of a concept. It needs to be
tangible enough to be detailed, presented, discussed and evaluated.
Solution evaluation
