Trump Versus Accusations of Russian Hackers: The Crime of the Century
In 2016 the world watched with hearts of joy or with eyes filled with tears of despair, as
the man few believed would win become the President of The United States(US), Donald Trump.
Shortly after winning the election that would shock the world at its foundation, speculations
raised their heads that in the 2016 Presidential election, Donald Trump’s victory could have
possibly been a hoax as Trump may have worked alongside a bitter US rival, Russia. Through
countless investigations and research by the FBI, the CIA, and other intelligence agencies, all
believe that Russia may have altered or heavily influenced the election results, allowing Trump
to be victorious over campaign rival, Hillary Clinton. While the agencies believe in Russia’s
effort to influence the election. This theory has yet to be proven true because President Trump
fires anyone that begins the initiation to investigate the ties that Russia may have played a role
in. Instead, Trump begins to point fingers to other political icons, like former President Barrack
Obama and campaign rival Hillary Clinton, to avert the attention of the citizens. By shifting the
blame onto a former President and campaign, this allows the initial friendliness and admiration
of Vladimir Putin’s Russia to be forgotten. Trump actions reflect interest of Russia by creating
descent in the American population and politics because he does no wrong, shifts the blame,
gives support of others through the Proletarian Government, and removes opposition to his

beliefs; illegally or legally. This can be seen through initial friendliness of Russia in the
beginning of his Presidency.
In the article “Poll finds tempered optimism after Trump victory, but doubts about a
mandate.”, Scott Clement and Dan Balz find suspicion about the 2016 Presidential Election,
more precisely as to how Trump was victorious over his campaign rival, Hillary Clinton. Scott et
al says, “with more than 7 in 10 saying the campaign made them angry and more than half
feeling stressed out by campaign news” (para 2). If 7 out of 10 people are angry and stressed
about the election results, then how did Trump achieve a victory? They believe that Trump
should include aspects of the democratic party. Graphs included in the article, state that 81% of
American voters were disappointed with Trump’s victory. It is also stated that the clear majority
of citizens believe that they will see big changes in Washington, yet to be determined if this will
be good or bad (Scott et al, para 6). While the evidence given by the graph is important, does it
show ties for the speculated Russian involvement?
In the journal “The Phenomenon of Trump’s Popularity in Russia: Media Analysis
Perspective.”, authors Pavel Slutsky and Dmitrii Gavra include the important fact that Russia
was the only country that would prefer Donald Trump to become the US following President
(para 1). Trump has Russia to thank for his popularity as they have given much propaganda in
his favor. Due to this, Russian media influencer is shown to actively show support to Trump.
Russia gave their propaganda influence due to thought that Trump would win the election and
then, follow Russian agenda in the White House. This would cause plentiful discord within the
US.
To further investigate the 2016 Presidential election, American Abroad published the
journal “US-Russia Relations in the Trump Era” where a closer look is considered of the

relationship between Russia and Trump. American Abroad investigates Russia’s Cyberspace and
their use of propaganda. The facts are there for Russia’s involvement into the 2016 Presidential
election. A formal investigation was called into CIA and other intelligence agency assessments
that Russia interfered with the 2016 Presidental election, by shifting the scales in favor of
Trump. Trump did not believe of any sort of involvement and further disagreed with Congress,
further spreading the split between political parties in the US which follows Russia’s agenda.
Many of Trump’s Administration member have a relationship with Russia. He nominated Rex
Tillerson for secretary of State who relations with Russia are directly linked to Russia President,
Vladimir Putin. This shows how Russia has been began to use their Propaganda and succeeded to
begin Russian agenda in the US. While the propaganda was successful, politically, many
