Trump and Climate Change
Climate change represents one of the major concerns in the world currently. The climatic
conditions have undergone major changes, mostly due to the human activities and the industrial
revolution (Schultz, 2017). Different stakeholders, including national leaders, have been offering
a diverse measure that can help address the problems. All countries have an equal role to play in
ensuring climate change problems that cause global warming get addressed (Anthony, 2017).
Different world leaders have responded by proposing diverse policies that may create solutions
to the problem. In the past year, the American economy has undergone a major change in the
administration. Trump was elected and sworn in as the President of the United States. His
presidency received a lot of criticisms due to the policies that he had proposed relating to diverse
sectors of the economy. Climate change is one of the sectors that Trump has initiated a change in
policy (Greshko, 2017). This paper will deeply examine the diverse propositions in a climate that
Trump has called for and the effect they might have on addressing global climate changes.
Trumps Policies and their Effects
Donald Trump has made threats to stem out of all universal climate change policies as
well as dissolve the body mandated with managing the environment called the environmental
protection agency. According to the president, the changes in climate and the global warming
experienced across the globe is a deception concocted by the Chinese to assault the United States
(Ribera, 2017). The developmental effects of environmental change are genuine and critical. It is
calamitous that the individual in charge of the world’s biggest economy is disregarding that
science requires quick action and terms it as a conspiracy. Trump has support from the majority
in the senate and congress who have been upheld by the petroleum product industry. Trump has

additionally encircled himself with petroleum derivative sympathizers to advise him on diverse
issues concerning the environment.
Trump has over the years changed his approach regarding various circumstances on
environmental change. In 2009 he was part of a business coalition, telling President Obama that
if the country did not act, it is deductively evident that there will be dangerous and irreversible
outcomes for humankind and our planet. However, he later called the environmental change a
Chinese conspiracy, despite the fact that a Republican president initiated the worldwide plan.
Despite saying that he has a receptive outlook afterwards, and concurred there is some link
between human action and environmental change, he has named a cabinet of individuals who
deny the concept of climate change (Anthony, 2017). Trump’s advisers have exceptionally solid
connections to the groups that sympathize or fail to accept the climate change effects. They
include Rick Perry as well as Rex Tillerson. Most of the people in the cabinet have some link to
the activities that cause global warming, such as coal, and it will be an uphill task to implement
policies that regulate the activities.
Trump had indicated during the campaign period that he would withdraw from the Paris
agreement on climate. It is an agreement that was signed by almost two hundred nations under
the United Nations in an attempt to control the global warming and reduce greenhouse gas
emissions to manageable levels (Greshko, 2017). For legal reasons, a move to withdraw from the
agreement would drag to over four years. It would, therefore, make sense to pull out from the
main agreement where the Paris agreement was based (Ribera, 2017). However, a move to pull
out portrays just how the president is misadvised on important factors that affect the general
public such as climate change. Withdrawing would render the country non-compliant to climate
change efforts and may make some of its best partners to issue sanctions against the country.

That indicates that the move would be harmful, both economically and environmentally. While
Trump’s top diplomat supported the agreement, he has in the past argued that climate change is
an engineering problem (Ferguson, 2017). Trump is still the sole head of state who does not
accept the reality of climate change. Regardless of what the result, different countries should lead
the way and use each strategic and financial apparatus available to them to constrain the US to
act.
When Trump was inaugurated into office, he was the main head of state to deny that
environmental change is genuine. He showed that America would need to do all that it can to
play safeguard against the most exceedingly bad driving forces of the government. Trump never
established his campaign in itemized approach motivation (Kantor & Frisbie, 2017). However,
his talks did demonstrate that few energy and environmental policies could get his quick
