Trans-Pacific Partnership or the TPP, is a trade agreement with 11 other countries in the
Pacific. Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New
Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam. A policy written without the knowledge of the
American People, One piece is the fast track that would not allow congress to amend the
policy to reflect that of their constituents. Having the Trans-Pacific partnership is bad for
the American people, the environment and small business owners.
With this policy, the United States is looking to lose around 130,000 jobs to Japan and
Vietnam alone. By its self that is a bad thing for the United States where jobs are already
hard to come by. It is also rewarding Vietnam with American jobs for poor human rights
working conditions, paying their workers only 52 cents an hour, and rewarding companies
with sending even more jobs overseas to low wage countries with special benefits. While
this is sending more jobs away from the American worker it is also forcing the US to
compete with these countries, lowering our collective bargaining and wages.
U.S. laws can be challenged in a international tribunal of the 10 other countries in the
Partnership, if the laws impact and future earnings for that company, which could cause
the U.S taxpayer compensation, this also hurts the future of the environment, many similar
treaties have caused over $14 billion, in similar law suits to countries that have
environmental protections in place, for example the U.S has environmental protections in
place for drilling in Alaska, if any of these protections hurt any future profits of a country
