In many television shows, Tourette’s Syndrome is shown as a disorder where
sufferers speak obscenely or have inappropriate tics. In Southpark, one of the
characters pretends he has Tourette’s Syndrome so he can speak obscenely to
teachers and students at his school without repercussion. In Nurse Jackie, one of the
doctors has a tic that causes him to grab women’s breasts. Oftentimes, people who
have Tourette’s Syndrome are depicted in a comical way but people with Tourette’s
Syndrome do not find it funny to live with this disorder.
What is Tourette’s
