Topic 10- Online Classroom Reflection
When I first started college, I never would have even considered to take an
online class. It was something that I had not been exposed to and I was worried I
wouldn’t be able to keep up and actually learn something. As my time and college grew
I quickly began to realize that there is simply not enough time in a day to be a full time
student and go to class every day, be a part of extracurricular activities, and have a job.
I began to realize that online classes are a great way to create a few extra hours in the
day. I still don’t believe that the value of an online class is the same as an in person
lecture. I don’t believe this because for me personally it is easier to learn something
from someone when you can actually see them and their body language. I do think you
can learn from online classes but you have to be extra driven and have better time
management. In an online class it is easy to get behind with readings and assignments
versus being in an in person lecture where you get to hear the information.
Back in my earlier parts of college when I was a freshman and a sophomore I
didn’t have a job so I was more open to having in person classes because I do learn
better when I am physically in a lecture. Now that I am in the later parts of my college
career online classes makes my life easier, which is the main reason I chose to take a
few. I think this is the same with most students. Although I learn better in an in person
lecture, online ones give me the opportunity to do more things with my time. Having a
job is one thing that motivated me to take online classes. I have the opportunity to work
more hours and make more money when I don’t have to go to class. It is easier to do
