Dear Chris,
After reviewing the class syllabus and the Student Guides with the course goals, I believe
I have a good understand of what’s expected and required to be successful in English 102. In
English 101 last semester I was able to receive and maintain an “A” in the course. With that
being said, I know I have developed a good understanding of a controlling purpose and the
understanding of rhetoric analysis and why it’s important when writing. I have heard that English
102 has a lot to do with formatting properly for research papers. My only question would be, are
we going to have a guideline to acquire acceptable sources that are credible for the topic that we
choose? On the goals sheet, I saw that citations were on there, and I think I’m pretty good at
using MLA, but I haven’t used APA or Chicago Manual style as often. Also I know I can
