Money is an Object Used to Show a Human’s Nature
Money is a complicated subject in Timon of Athens. A common misconception is that
money can be good or evil, but money can be neither. This paper demonstrates that people are the
only ones that can be good or evil, and money is just the means to demonstrate true natures.
Timon’s first act of generosity in Timon is when he bails his friend from jail “…My friend
when he must need me. I do know him/ A gentleman that well deserves a hell,/Which he shall
have. I’ll pay the debt and free him” (1.1.101-103). Right after this a father enters pleading Timon
