William Penn (14 October 1644 – 30 July 1718) once quoted “Time is what we want most,
but what we use worst”. Everyone is born equal in terms of the quantity if time given. We
all have 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week. I always wonder why some people
achieve so much more than the others and finally realize the answer actually lies in time
management.
Poor time management impacts every aspect of our life and leads to many unfortunate
consequences on study, work, health as well as relationships with friends and families. The
lack of control of my time had seriously limited my potential and ruined family
relationship in the past decade. I always miss deadlines; constantly late for appointments
and have my work stacked up, productivity level declines and backlog increases. It is not
until 2 years ago when I started to find a job and I realized the importance of changing my
habit and to spend my time wisely.
A Nielsen report shows that average American over the age of 2 spends more than 34
hours a week watching live television, says — plus another three to six hours watching
taped programs. Computer addiction like playing online games and instant chatting has
been described as being even more harmful than drug addiction. I was a good student
before eighth grade. My father trained me to be a “bookworm” and reading was my only
pastime. When I first got connected with online gaming, I totally felt in love with it.
